So, yesterday after school I had to take 2 of my kids to get the beginnings of their braces put on. My 12 yr old daughter had to get one on the top teeth and one on the bottom teeth. She will be getting her actual braces on in 4 weeks. My son who is 7 had to get the one on the top teeth as well, he has an under bite which we are hoping that will be taken care of and he won’t actually need braces.
Anyhow, my daughter woke up in terrible pain this morning and I knew it was going to be very hard for her (actually both of them) to eat breakfast. I was reading a bit of Happy Herbivore website, and found this fantastic recipe for her Cinnamon Bun Smoothie. I decided to give the kids a treat. All of my kids LOVED this, as did I!! I did alter it a bit, I added flax and wheat germ to ours…for added nutrition. So, here’s the recipe:
Cinnamon Bun Smoothie~1 serving
1 cup non dairy milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp pure maple syrup (optional)
Add all to blender and blend!! I added some ice cubes as well as ground flax seed and wheat germ. I did not measure the flax and wheat germ, but probably was 1 tbls of each.
Awesome, kid friendly recipe from The Happy Herbivore!!! Easy, Nutritious, Kid Friendly, what could be better than that~oh yeah, did I mention it is YUMMY?!
If I have all the ingredients, next up will be the Pumpkin Pie Smoothie…..Sounds DELICIOUS!!
